Premier Homes Top Jobs Top Rentals Top Autos Local Briefs The Lowell Sun Tree knocks out power in Billerica BILLERICA -- Downed power lines blacked out Billerica Center for just over three hours Sunday night, leaving hundreds of residents, including those at the River Street elderly housing complex, without air conditioning in the sweltering humidity. The lights went out at 8:15 p.m., when a tree fell across wires on Boston Road, knocking out power for 660 customers, Massachusetts Electric spokeswoman Debbie Drew said. Power was restored at 11:30. One resident who lives in the River Street complex said many residents, particularly those who depend on oxygen to breathe, were upset and scared.
