Updated: Sat, Jul 9, 2005   Saturday, July 9, 2005 | Fire levels East Providence nightclub EAST PROVIDENCE - An electrical fire at the Key West nightclub on North Broadway Saturday evening led to the total loss of the structure and contents. East Providence firefighters received the emergency call and responded at 8:03 that evening. According to Lieutenant Thomas Salisbury, Assistant Fire Marshall, the fire began in the electrical room and spread quickly. The speed at which the fire advanced made firefighters go on the defense to put the fire out. Only seven people were in the club at the time of the fire, three staff members and four customers in the building, which was designed to hold 149, per fire code. All of them escaped without injury.
