The outgoing — and outspoken — president of Kennesaw State University was told the event was to announce a new grant and to unveil plans for an expansion to Safe America's headquarters in east Cobb County. The naming of the facility surprised outgoing KSU President Betty Siegel. A speaker started talking about honoring someone with deep roots in the organization, which sponsors a range of safety programs nationwide. Suddenly, all eyes were on Siegel.
